Supporting the Patient's Family as Death Approaches

Ask the patient’s family about the following in event
of death:
- Who should be contacted and at what number?
- When should this person be contacted?
- Would they want to come in to the hospital to see the body?
- What are their plans regarding the next steps?
- Do they have any special preferences and rituals about near
death and after death care?
