Dyspnea: How to Assess and Palliate Dyspnea (Air-Hunger)

Dyspnea is a subjective sensation, so the only way to assess dyspnea is to ask the patient.

Intensity of dyspnea can be assessed by bedside observation (unable to talk or eat uninterrupted for breath) and by caregiver reports.
